My Family’s Ascolano Extra Virgin Olive Oil Wins: “Best Of Show”
Last weekend in Monterey, at the annual California Olive Oil Council Membership Meeting, my Family’s Estate Grown Ascolano Extra Virgin Olive Oil took home the top prize for medium growers: BEST OF SHOW. I could not be more excited!
When I called my parents to announce the big award, they were literally bouncing off the walls.

I’m the owner of Olive Fantastic, my new company, and a 4th generation olive farmer and olive oil producer. It’s very unique that both sides of my family have history in the olive oil industry, in Corning California, where I grew up. It’s safe to say that I have olive oil running in my blood! I fell into olive oil after my first couple years of work when I was laid off in 2005, where I had started to sell my family’s olive oil at work. I’m proud to say that I love what I do and am passionate about having the opportunity to pioneer the California Olive Oil Industry. One of my favorite things to do is taste olive oil, over the past 11 years I’ve tasted thousands of oils, and in doing so I’ve become the most awarded olive oil taster in the USA, winning 292 top awards, including now 5 “Best of Shows” at the COOC Annual Membership Meeting.
I live in Newcastle California with my wife and two little boys. I graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a degree in Mechanical Engineering – GO MUSTANGS!
I want to thank the COOC for this amazing award, Lewis Johnson from Butte View Olive Oil & Stella Cadente Olive Oil who milled this amazing olive oil, and also want to encourage all of you to keep pushing the California Olive Oil Industry forward!
